MOMENT IN MISSIONS
Pray for the country of Yemen that is suffering a starvation crisis and in dire need of humanitarian aid. Pray the nations’ leaders will be moved to address the shortfall. Pray God would mercifully stop the spread of COVID-19, and opposing sides in the two wars would agree to a cease fire. Pray the Yemeni Church will stand strong and flourish in this time.
An update from Chris and Terra-Lynn Ulriksen and family, International Workers to Mexico:
More changes in plans -- January 2021 - Return to Mexico City (we hope...) after extending our Home Assignment for 6 months due to Covid-related concerns.
Yes, as you see, we will be in Canada for a little bit longer. This is primarily to allow the Covid situation in Mexico City to stabilize a little bit. While our teammates are handling the situation well and the most recent official trend is finally (maybe?) starting to head downwards, after a discussion with our leadership we decided that it was best to remain in Canada a little bit longer. While this is disappointing on one level, it's also a relief on another level. There was so much uncertainty about conditions that it was really stressful trying to figure out if we would actually be able to go back at the end of August, so it's a blessing to have a firm decision. We will re-evaluate the situation later in the fall, but at the moment, we anticipate that it will be okay to return in January.
The biggest immediate impact has been the accompanying decision to let go of our house in Mexico. This happened very quickly, as the first year of our lease expired right about now. We are very grateful to our teammates who were able to move our stuff into storage, clean the house, and wrap everything up within the space of a couple of weeks (see pictures below). While we are definitely sad about leaving what had been our home in Mexico, we also feel like this will give us a good opportunity to look for a new house closer to where the kids go to school and where we expect to be doing ministry. As always, we know that God can work in this situation.
